For some time, I have had a concern about what is happening in churches in the United States and elsewhere as well, but primarily in the US, where more and more churches are closing even faster than in the past. I would also like to share observations and ideas as a lay person with those who are in leadership positions in churches.
It is my opinion that church members seldom share their feelings with the leadership of the church that they attend, and for reasons that cover the gamut from not wanting to upset the proverbial apple cart to being afraid of how church leaders might react to whatever is said. Most churches do not conduct surveys to assess the “pulse” of their church as determined through the eyes of their members. I have also encountered church leaders in the past who were reluctant to do so, lest they receive some negative feedback.
